Training and qualifications to work in Germany

Did you obtain a professional qualification outside Germany and do you need to adjust your qualification to bring it up to the standard in Germany? Do you need a specialist language course for your profession?

We offer training courses for nursing and healthcare professions, skilled trades and professionals in industry, commerce and education.

Or have you completed a degree or a higher education diploma in business administration in another country? Then you can complete a bridging qualification to improve your employment opportunities.

All of IQ’s services are free of charge.

Nurse, midwife, medical technical assistant, medical laboratory assistant, radiology assistant, doctor, dentist, pharmacist, preschool teacher and other regulated professions

Professional Training Registration Process Service Centre

Did you complete your education in another country and train as a nurse, midwife, medical technical assistant, medical laboratory assistant, radiology assistant, doctor, dentist, pharmacist, preschool teacher or another regulated professional?

Has your qualification not been fully recognised in Germany?

The service centre can help you address any differences. The aim is for your qualification to be fully recognised so that you can work in your profession in Germany.

What we offer:

We will find a place for you on the right training scheme and will support you until your qualification is recognised.
We work with the recognition bodies, regional training centres and IQ recognition advice centres. We will draw up a training plan that will enable you to catch up on any training that is required for full recognition.

  • We will explain any significant differences that are identified between your qualification and the requirements.
  • We will present the pathways that you can follow to offset any significant differences between your professional training and the reference profession.
  • We will provide information about the process and the length of time it will take to offset any differences.
  • We will provide information on financial support (unemployment benefits [SGB II], measures to promote participation in the labour market [SGB III] and IQ funding).
  • We will provide coaching and language training for specific professions.
  • We will find a place for you on the right training programme (to help you prepare for a theoretical examination or additional training).
  • We will support you during your training scheme until you achieve full equivalence.

What we offer:

  • We will advise you and ask you about your skills: what can you do?
  • We will assess and document these skills (if your qualification has been rejected during the recognition process or if it is likely to be rejected)
  • We arrange additional training for people who are qualified in a skilled trade or an industrial/commercial profession and whose foreign qualifications have been partially recognised
  • We arrange training to upgrade qualifications for people who are trained in a skilled trade or an industrial/commercial profession and whose application for recognition has been rejected or is likely to be rejected
